Supra-conscious

Supra-conscious - not amenable to individual conscious-volitional control of the level of mental activity of the individual in solving creative problems.

The idea of the specifics of this level was put forward by K. S. Stanislavsky, who designated it by the term “superconsciousness”, which meant the highest stage of the creative process, different from both its conscious and unconscious components. Later, P. V. Simonov interpreted superconsciousness as a mechanism of creative intuition, thanks to which there is a recombination of previous impressions, whose correspondence to reality is established a second time.

In relation to the processes of individual scientific creativity, the supra-conscious is represented in their regulation by a categorical apparatus of cognition, which is not realized by the scientist himself, who is absorbed in the subject of research, but whose objective logic of development is reflected in his hypotheses and ideas. Therefore, categorical analysis is necessary to “decipher” the supra-conscious.

The concept of the supra — conscious allows us to distinguish between two forms of unconscious mental activity: depending on the information already imprinted in the brain (determination by the past) — the unconscious; aimed at creating what has never been in personal and collective experience (determination by the necessary future) - the supra-conscious. Such creation occurs in the process of interaction of the individual with the world of cultural values, which he not only assimilates, but also creates, reflecting the urgent trends of the objective development of this world. The result of this interaction are artistic images, scientific discoveries, and other products of creativity, in which, along with what appears in the consciousness of the individual subject who gave birth to them, there is an objectively significant content not represented in his reflection (not realized by him), captured by the work of thought at the level of the supra-conscious.
